Vargnatt - Promo 1993 demo/Suffocate the Masses + 'Promo 1991
[Dead not Found-BOOTLEG]

-Format -CD-

The bootleg CD contains the earliest material from Ulver and Immortal, for the first time on CD, although the quality is pretty raw. Beneath the CD tray is a mocking picture of a member of Dimmu Borgir-containing a superimposed picture of a band member and 'Dimmu Burger' with arches and 'Absolute Gay Metal' below. Beyond this anti-Dimmu propaganda, perhaps the most interesting part of this CD is the Immortal material, it's very death metal sounding, vocals and all. Nothing like the black metal sound they're known for.

Samael/Tiamat

Live March 1993
[BOOTLEG]

-Format-Bootleg CD-

This live bootleg contains the following tracks, beginning with Samael: "Blood Ritual," "Bestial Devotion," "Beyond the Nothingness," "Since the Creation," "Until the Chaos," "Worship Him" and "Morbid Metal." The Tiamat tracks are: "Lady Tempress," "Mountain of Doom," "The Sleeping Beauty" and "Ancient Entity."

Mercyful Fate

The Oath
[BOOTLEG]

-Format-Bootleg CD-

This Bootleg consists of the very same recording as 'The Live Oath', except it contains one further track, 'Evil'. Besides, unlike 'The Live Oath', it gives us a date for this Philadelphia gig: February 18th 1995.

    Triumph of Death
    [BOOTLEG]

    -Format-Bootleg CD-

This bootleg was released at the same time as the excellent 'Satanic Rites' bootleg (around '95 or so). It is not as good as far as sound quality and overall appearance go. I suspect that the seventeen tracks here are the ones recorded for their "Death Fiend" and "Triumph of Death" demos. The tracks are: 'Angel of Destruction', 'Crucifixion', 'Ready for Slaughter', 'Death Fiend', When Hell's Near', 'Chainsaw', 'Sweet Torment', 'Hammerhead', 'Blood Insanity', 'Reaper', 'Maniac', 'Triumph of Death', 'Bloody Pussies', 'Power of Satan', 'Decapitator', 'Dark Warriors', 'Metallic Storm'.

    Triumph of Death
    [Turbo Music]

    -Format-Bootleg CD-

This was released in 1992 by Turbo Music and I'm not sure quite how rare it is, but it looks like a bootleg if I ever saw one! No tracklist (8 tracks total) with songs by Acheron, Samael, Beherit, Carcass (live), Death Yell and Mortuary.

  • Paradise Lost

    Gothic Illusions
    [BOOTLEG]

    -Format-Bootleg CD-

This bootleg contains a gig in Ludwigsburg, April 14th 1991. The sound quality is not excellent, but it's quite interesting to hear a gig of 'Gothic'-era Paradise Lost. 'Intro', 'Dead Emotion', 'Gothic', 'Paradise Lost', 'Breeding Fear', 'Eternal', 'Shattered', 'Frozen Illusion', 'Angel Tears', 'The Painless', 'Our Saviour', 'Deadly Innerself', 'Rapture'.

    None Shall Defy/Creation of Chaos
    [BOOTLEG]

    -Format-Bootleg CD-

This is not the Displeased Records CD but rather a 1995 bootleg (made in Italy like 99% of bootlegs at this time) with both the 'None Shall Defy' album and their 'Creation of Chaos' 1991 demo. 'Overlord', 'R.I.P', 'Night of the Living Dead', 'S.O.S.', 'None Shall Defy', 'Skeletons in the Closet', 'Anthology of Death', 'Path of the Psyco', 'What's What', 'Power Intrusion', 'Into the Unknown', 'Those About to Die'.

    Death Metal Session
    [Direkt Records]

    -Format-CD-

This is a compilation with Czech bands Direkt Records released in 1991 (although there is no date on the CD). It is a collector's item above all because it features a track by Root ('Hrbitov'). The other bands featured are Zelezna Nedele, Moriorr, Abax, Mamut, Lochness, Terminator, Brian, Törr.

    Death 'n' Roll
    [BOOTLEG]

    -Format-CD-

Another bootleg made in Italy, this one in 1994. It consists of a concert at Auditorium Flog, Florence, Italy, in 27 January 1994. The sound is not very good (one of those typical bootlegs recorded with a walkman or something). 'Buried Dreams', 'Incarnate Solvent Abuse'(misspelled), 'Carnal Forge', 'Pedigree Butchery', 'No Love Lost', 'Heartwork', 'Carneous Cacoffiny', 'Lavaging Expectorate of Lysergide Composition', 'Embodiment', 'Corporal Jigsore Quandatary' (misspelled), 'Death Certificate', 'Rot'n'Roll', 'This Mortal Coil'.

    Rare in Blood
    [BOOTLEG]

    -Format-CD-

This is a great bootleg. It has a great presentation, a great sound, and very diverse material: 'In-a-Gadda-da-Vida' (Originally recorded by Iron Butterfly), 'Disorder' (together with Ice-T, Off the Judgment Night soundtrack), 'Memories Of Tomorrow' (Suicidal Tendencies cover, from the Japan release of Undisputed Attitude), 'Unguarded Instinct', 'Human Disease' (Off the Bride of Chucky soundtrack, although apparently the song does not appear in the movie), 'Aggressive Perfector' (new version), 'Criminally Insane' (Remix), and then some tracks credited as having been recorded live at the Palace Theater in Los Angeles on 30.05.98, which are: 'Raining Blood', 'Angel of Death', 'Mandatory Suicide', 'Chemical Warfare', 'At Dawn They Sleep', 'Dead Skin Mask', 'Divine Intervention', 'Dittohead', 'South of Heaven'. Then another live track, credited as live at Mesa Amphitheater, Mesa, Arizona in 12.03.95 which is the Venom cover 'Witching Hour'. There are a couple of singers, so this must be together with Robb Flynn (vocals) and Chris Kontos (drums) from Machine Head, as in the Live Intrusion video. Finally two more studio tracks, 'Here Comess the Pain' (misspelled), and 'No Remorse (I wanna Die)' which is the track Slayer wrote and created together with the techno group Atari Teenage Riot. Very little information is available on the CD, so I had to investigate a bit concerning some tracks.

    Metalpunk
    [Soundwings]

    -Format-CD-

This is a very weird CD: it has a strange presentation, the label (supposedly) is called Soundwings, and it even has the address of a Swiss distributer. In reality it's 'Calm Before the Storm' with a different name and cover.

    Leave me in Hell
    [Elap Music]

    -Format-CD-

This is possibly not a bootleg. It's one of those compilations made for large commercial centres, usually sold cheap. I've bought others by bands like Saxon, Motörhead, etc. This one was released in 1993 by Elap Music. These are never very interesting, as all songs are taken from official albums. However, some collectors want everything and anything. The tracklist is: 'Leave me in Hell', 'Black Metal', 'Burn This Place to the Ground', 'Buried Alive', 'Schizo', 'Witching Hour', 'Teacher's Pet', 'Too Loud (For the Crowd)', 'Welcome to Hell', 'Satanachist', 'Flytrap', 'Sons of Satan', 'Poison', Hellchild', 'Angel Dust', 'Powerdrive'.

  • Piledriver

    Metal Inquisition + Stay Ugly
    [FMP/BOOTLEG]

    -Format-CD-

This is not the Maximum Metal/High Vaultage release, but the bootleg supposedly released by Full Moon Productions (the matrix of the CD does say 'FMPR 0016'). No information at all apart from the tracklist, and it's obvious from the pops that this was recorded from a vinyl record. You can also see the pixels in the cover and back photo. The tracklist is 'Metal Inquisition', 'Sex with Satan', Sodomize the dead', 'Witchhunt', 'Piledriver', 'Human sacrifice', 'Alien rape' for Metal Inquisition, and 'The Incubus', 'Metal death racer', 'The firegod', 'CHOAS', 'The warning', 'The lord of abomination', 'Flowers of evil', 'The executioner' for Stay Ugly.

  • Note: We actually recieved a promo copy of this CD from FMP when this was released. As I understand it, there was some sort of misunderstanding between the band and FMP about its release.

  • Vorphalack

    Under the Sight of Dragon
    [Molon Lave]

    -Format-Seven inch-

This 1992 red transparent vinyl EP was the first release by the Greek band Vorphalack. The songs are: 'Hall of Death' and 'Obssessed'.

  • Sorath

    Horns of the Goat
    [Miscarriage Records]

    -Format-Seven inch-

This EP was released in 1993 by the Italian label Miscarriage Records. Sorath was the first band of Baron Abaddon from Darkness Enshroud. Apparently most members went to Black Funeral. It features the songs 'Flame of the Goat' and 'The Moonlight Glittered Upon the Snow'.

  • Sigh/Kawir

    Untitled
    [Cacophonous Records]

    -Format-Seven inch-

This is a split 7" with Japanese band Sigh and Greek band Kawir, released by Cacophonous Records in 1994. The version of 'Suicidogenic' found here is more raw and a bit slower than the version found on Infidel Art. Also, the flute is played as an intro to the song here as opposed to an outro as on Infidel Art. The album ID here does not follow Cacophonous' usual practice of preceding the numbers with "Nihil". Instead, the EP is listed as Chthonic 714. The lyrics are printed on the inside of the sleeve, except for the Venom cover, which you have to make out for yourself, since there is no reference to it at all on the EP. Side A (Sigh): 'Suicidogenic', 'Schizo' (Venom cover); Side AA (Kawir): 'Sinn (The Blazing Queen)'.

    Apokathelosis
    [Osmose Productions]

    -Format-Seven inch-

This 7" was released in 1993. Its name is written on the cover in Greek letters. On the back there are the lyrics to both songs, 'Visions of the Dead Lovers', and 'The Mystical Meeting'.

  • Minotaur

    Death Metal
    [Remedy Records]

    -Format-Seven inch-

Minotaur is a cult eighties German Thrash band. For some reason the band lists this EP at their website under the name 'eat Metal' and on the picture of the cover (at their website) the D and H of 'Death Metal' have been erased. Well I have one, and I guarantee that when it was released (in 1990) it was called 'Death Metal' (as you can see on the scanned cover here). The songs are: 'Towards My Eternity' and 'Total Decay'.

    -Format-Seven inch-

This NWOBHM EP was released in 1979 and it features the tracks 'Give 'em Hell' and 'Gettin' Heavy'.
