• The following 'guerrilla notes' are only a small example of the huge variety of this currency. They are from WWII and were backed by the United States. They helped fund insurgents and rebel groups during the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines. Some are fairly professional, but most are crude, some extremely so. These notes were made from a variety of methods, some made in the jungle using rubber from tires or wood blocks, others were rumored to be done on Allied submarines using printing plates. The paper varies, but it is mostly of very poor quality. Some of the notes are so worn they feel almost like cloth.

    I'm unsure if the United States ever honored these after the war. Probably not, since they didn't honor anything else in the Philippines. Hell, Douglas MacArthur even abandoned his own troops when the Japanese won the battle of the Philippines. His famous 'I'll be back' became a joke by the Filipino people who saw his cowardly move as abandoning them. Anyway, these notes are a very interesting part of history. Enjoy...
